TIME TO WAKE UP

The Iraqi 'Devil' is hanging as an awful warning on all the TV screens. She is the Iraq, which liberated from British colonial rule to use her oil to give the population education, free high quality health care, incipient womens' emancipation and independence. But the oil cowboys of the West could not forgive the loss of the colony. That was before the war against Iran, which the oil boys got going in order to - in the words of Henry Kissinger - make the two inconvenient nations kill each other. Altogether, the 'Devil' is any nation, that doesn't exactly want to go along the path the oil mafia of the West lined out for them. Iraq, North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, Libya .... before them virtually hundreds of other nations .... among which Chile, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Guatemala, where the ambassador of Mr. Bush in the UN Of Peace, John Negroponte, was the guy that created and financed the death patrols, and thus must be named an active supporter of terrorists. And as always, racism is paving the way for war preparations. One day here in the US, not long ago, men over 16 years of age from eleven non-white nations, mostly Arab, should be taxed; they followed the orders and formed a one mile long line down Los Angeles Street, which otherwise belongs to the homeless housed in cardboard boxes. FBI agents carted off every fourth to an undisclosed location. these men were denied a trial, defense, or contact with their families or the outside world. The other day it was scheduled to happen again. But this time Human Rights Watch people and activists surrounded the INS offices in Los Angeles and other US cities.
LA: Ralley against War on Iraq Some months ago we signed the NOT IN OUR NAME Statement Of Conscience as no. 50 and 51. Now more than 45,000 have signed it. As a a massive, nationwide protest is building, a new culture, the face of the true America, is becoming visible. Bighearted, friendly, brave, united, colorful, intelligent. The Bush castle is built on sand. His foundation, Big Corporation, is melting herself down in corruption, theft, and abuse. Their so-called landslide victory in the recent congressional elections was really less than 20% of the poll. Only 38% felt they could find somebody to vote for. And election machines are now computers. Friends of the Bush family run the programs, which only they are able to check. There are no paper ballots to recount. Bush, Blair (what a social democrat...) don't worry too much about the UN inspectors. The thing is, Iraq just has to be destroyed, and a pretext just has to be found. It is not about weapons of mass destruction. Bush tore 8000 pages out of Iraq's weapon report, because they told who once sold Iraq her ugly weapons (guess who?). All Bush's zeal regarding the UN resolutions is mere folly: he and Blair are breaking UN resolutions every day with their bombs in their self-proclaimed no-fly-zones which the UN has never asked for, and cover two thirds of Iraq. And their paid hangmen in Israel break UN resolutions each and every day with their occupation and insane violence against a whole people; violence that is destroying any hope for the Israeli people as well. Bush, Blair & Co. want to steal Iraq's oil first. Then that of Iran. Saudi Arabia isn't safe either. When the Middle East has been transformed into rubble, it will be carved up again. With a big chunk for Israel far into Iraq. Then it will be time for the rest of the planet. The 'Bush Doctrine' speaks openly about world dictatorship and about eliminating all obstacles. This time, dear friends, it is serious, if we don't want our kids and grand-kids to grow up on a planet in barbed wire. The human cages have already been tested - in the parking basements of little Copenhagen. Some may still think this war won't affect life in Denmark. But it already does. War means fascism, nazism, racism as well. Economic disaster. Theft from ordinary people. The scape goats, once Jews, now Arabs, are handed to us to tear apart while Big Corporation is allowed to empty the treasury. Even the blind can see it. And war is environmental disaster. The black rain after Papa Bush's Gulf War reached Hawaii and China. It may be contributing to the current climatic disorder. Vast areas of Iraq can never ever be opened to humans because of contamination from US bombs containing depleted uranium. Even 80,000 US soldiers got too close to radiation and have children that hardly look like humans. Papa Bush destroyed
Iraq's entire infrastructure and let 12 years of sanctions prevent rebuilding
of watersupply, medical supplies, farming and food supplies, and sewage. The results
are devastating. 150,000 civilians died immediately under uranium bombs, napalm,
fuel-air bombs, and fragmentation bombs. The US-provoked UN sanctions did the
rest. It is unbelievable that Iraq is still standing on her feet after 12 years
of genocide. One point five million dead people. 500,000 dead children. So much
sorrow, so many tears. If the rest of us do nothing but shake our heads in front of the TV, we too make ourselves accomplices. It's time to wake up. Dear people of Denmark, of all nationalities, colors and religions: stand together now. After the Liberation from Nazi occupation in 1945 the shout was Never More War. Never More Fascism. This is the moment. Raise it in your unions, your factories, your schools, and your neighborhoods. Start activities in preparation of the big international rallies Feb. 15 (in the US: Jan. 18). Raise a tidal wave of protests, show the world, that the soul of the Danish people is something totally different from war and racism. Stop those who are going to sacrifice our children. Stop those who are going to sell Denmark as a branch of a multinational corporation. We can stop it. We are billions opposing this war, and we have already delayed the advancement of the 'Bush Doctrine' for months. We must stand together across all national and cultural lines, knowing that we are united in the same hopes and the mutual knowledge created by global, bitter experience from the most devastating century in the history of the world. Then we can actually create history ourselves. Wonderful history. We can transform fear into creativity and joy, into a new and far superior way of life. The Big Ones have so much to hide. They fear and cover history as well as the future. We have nothing to hide. History is our rich soil of experience, and the future is our hope and longing. There is no time to waste. Give the little ones the greatest gift: a future without war and violence, without poverty, without shame. And stretch out your hand to the true America, the America of the people, with their one thousand colors, languages and rich culture so filled with suffering and accomplishment, with pain and joy. Los
Angeles is not like it usually is. Every week there are more than 20 demonstrations
against the war. This is unprecedented, including during the Vietnam war. Small
street gatherings have developed into mass rallies of more than 30,000 people,
like yesterday (Jan. 11).
